The report to San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department Friday at 7:30 p.m. Sands had been hiking in the Baldy Bowl area. Rescue crews mobilized immediately but conditions haven’t been ideal to say the least.

The search had to pause briefly on Saturday evening because of the risk of an avalanche. Rodriguez confirmed rescue crews will keep scanning the area as weather permits. This means utilizing drones and helicopter when possible and shifting back to a ground search as it becomes safe.

The Conditions on Mt Baldy are Extremely Dangerous Right Now.

The winter weather has been making conditions way too dangerous for hikers right now. Sands is not the first hiker to go missing in the area this winter. Public Service Advisory Summary:

“Over the last four weeks, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue (SAR) Teams have responded to 14 rescue missions on Mt Baldy and in the surrounding area. These rescue missions have been for lost, stranded and/or injured hikers. Unfortunately, during these past 4 weeks, two hikers did not survive after falling and injuring themselves… “

Mt Baldy is a popular hike, but it’s not easy. It’s 11 miles and takes you about 10,064 feet to the highest point in Los Angeles – Roughly 4000 feet of that is climbing.

Julian Sands Secured Horror Icon Status in “Warlock”

Here’s hoping the grim conditions improve soon and these search crews are able to bring Sands home to his family and fans.
