Elvis Presley’s encounters with the supernatural were topics he openly discussed throughout his life. These otherworldly experiences included multiple UFO sightings, spiritual visions, and even telepathic communication with extraterrestrials.

Elvis Presley's Relationship with the Supernatural

Not only did the ‘King of Rock N’ Roll’, believe in the paranormal, it seemed to have accompanied him on his journey into this world.

In the wee hours of January 8, 1935, something otherworldly happened (aside from the miracle of child birth). Gladys Presley went into labor in the two-room house she and Vernon shared in East Tupelo, Mississippi. A strange aerial phenomenon occurred at the same time Elvis was being born – Vernon Presley and the family’s doctor both witnessed the anomaly.

Larry Geller, Elvis’ assistant shared Vernon Presley’s retelling of these strange birthday lights: “His father told us he’d gone out to have a cigarette at 2am during the delivery, and when he looked up into the skies above their little shack, he saw the strangest blue light. He knew right then and there that something special was happening.”

Elvis Had A Twin Brother

Two Presley boys were born that night. The first was Jesse Garon Presley. Elvis was born 35 minutes after his identical twin brother. Tragically, Jesse didn’t make it, he was buried the next day in an unmarked grave in Priceville Cemetery. Elvis spoke of his twin throughout his life.

Elvis Presley’s Supernatural Encounters Included ET Visitations, Visions & UFO Sightings

When Elvis was 8-years old, he recalled telepathic connections or visitations from extraterrestrials who would show him things. He was given a vision of “a man wearing a white suit singing to a crowd.” It was a vision of himself, in the future as a grown man.

Elvis also reported many UFO sightings in adulthood. He would see strange lights in the desert at night. Elvis and his assistant Larry Geller confirmed they both witnessed bright objects in the sky over the desert and again hovering above Graceland. It seems someone from above was keeping a watchful eye on ‘The King’.

Elvis Was Profoundly Spiritual & Felt A Deep Connection Between Music & Christianity

The name ‘Elvis’ means ‘the force of God’ in Hebrew. In this case, it would seem that ‘the force’ was meant to be delivered through song. Despite his reputation as the “King of Rock n’ Roll”, Gospel was always Elvis Presley’s favorite music genre.

One really famous story about Elvis occurred while he was recording a gospel album. He felt his words so deeply, he was in tears by the time he finished. Elvis later openly confessed to everyone that he sang gospel songs for God and he was able to actually feel God directly when he did. Everyone in the room felt deeply moved by the whole experience.

Elvis remained spiritual his whole life – he was constantly searching for answers. He brought his Bible with him on tour and studied an array of other religious and spiritual books: the Tao Te Ching, ‘The Autobiography of a Yoga and The Prophet to name a few. In fact, he spent the last few months of his life mostly in seclusion with his spiritualism books.

Elvis was baptized twice as a child. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints decided to baptize him a third time, posthumously. He wore symbols from various religions and joked it was because he didn’t want to end up ‘left out of heaven on a technicality.’

He believed God had a specific purpose for his voice and meditated 30 minutes a day to let God in to speak through his songs. “I believe in the Bible,” he once said, “I believe that all good things come from God. I don’t believe I’d sing the way I do if God hadn’t wanted me to.”

Elvis Became Increasingly Interested In Death & The Paranormal

When asked to elaborate on Elvis’ otherworldly interests, his cousin Billy Smith told of sessions held at Graceland. Elvis would invite Billy and a few others upstairs and they would all just spend hours sitting on the bed, talking about personal spiritual experiences, UFOs, and beliefs in the paranormal. They would always end these sessions with a protection chant: “Christ love, Christ life, Christ peace.”

According to Billy: “He [Elvis] loved when he could talk about it and somebody else would show interest in it.”

“All I want is to know the truth, to know and experience God,” Elvis told Christian Today. “I’m a searcher, that’s what I’m all about.

Even as he slept, Elvis received visions from a higher power. He was always connected.

Professor David Rosen, author of The Tao of Elvis, wrote that Elvis once wanted to become a monk after a spiritual dream he had back in the mid-1960s. In it, he looked up and saw the face of Jesus Christ in clouds staring back at him from above the Arizona desert. “I know now. I’ve got to do something real with my life. I want out. I want to become a monk and join a monastery.”

The again in 1977, just before his death, Elvis wrote out his will and had a dream in which the face of God manifested as such a bright white light, that he almost had to shield his eyes.

Elvis Didn’t Identify With The Role Of “The King” Projected On Him

Modern society idolizes singers and actors, giving them an almost god-like status. Naturally, Elvis had a hard time with this. It’s really just false idol worship. Elvis felt his voice was a tool for the divine to work through, not something to be worshipped on its own.

I think Elvis would agree, society needs to let artists and their inspired creations serve as the bridges they are. Don’t confuse them for the desired destination, as they aren’t who/what you should be aspiring to reach. They can guide you for a short time, but it’s necessary to find your own inner link to the divine. The music is there to inspire and help raise your vibration – but you have to keep going higher. Don’t stop at the artist, ascend past them. That’s the whole point.

That’s a lesson we can learn from Elvis’s life.
