Lionsgate and Blooper Team (the developer behind Layers of Fear) have put their heads together to give us The Blair Witch Game. While at its core this is a standard first-person survival-game, it’s also a psychological horror and a direct sequel/prequel to the original found-footage horror film, The Blair Witch Project (1999).

The game takes place back in September of 1996 and players jump into the life of Ellis, “a former police officer with a troubled past” who is (along with his trusty dog sidekick) investigating the disappearance of a boy in the infamous Black Hills Forest.

Now with this latest trailer, we get a glimpse into the game which appears to utilize a handheld camcorder gameplay device to create that found-footage feel (naturally). The Black Hills Forest we’ve all come to know and fear looks as creepy as you’d expect. The game itself is atmospheric, eerie as hell, and loaded with jump scares.

The Blair Witch drops Aug. 30 on PC and Xbox One. Watch the trailers and leave comments below.
